Update

Spoke to D Friday and she as well as staff in Vietnam are still optimistic that things are on track for our file to be signed off by DA by the end of this week, just before our Ministry approval expiry.  Which, obviously, would be a wonderful thing!  Inquiries to the Ministry about an additional grace period have not been made.  My interpretation of that is that it is unusual to have received the Letter of No Objection without being farther along than we were at the time and why get your fingers rapped for doing something if you don't have to?

So current travel estimate sticks at travel in time for me to be there the first week of April.  So possibly as early as March 31 or April 1.

In the meantime our social worker has sent out the requests to our references and aside from Arn's police clearances and trips to the doctor for medicals we are in pretty good shape for a lickety-splickety home study if we need one.  We should know in the next week or two if it will be necessary...but we are told probably (hopefully) not.

Haven't heard back about our citizenship application extension...but they only received our request last Monday (and then again on Wed thanks to Can Post mixup - LOL).  Not sure how long that will take but trying to be patient.

  1. Fingers crossed for you, Sharon! It's time for some good news!! Just think - we were getting our referrals 4 years ago this week (give or take a day or two!)
